Howl’s Moving Castle Story

Sophie is a young woman of low self-esteem who thinks that her destiny is to keep the family’s headgear and therefore has no ambitions. One day when he left to visit his sister Lettie, she is harassed by some army officers, but is saved by a handsome young blond wizard, who helps her to reach her destination more quickly. When commenting to his sister about the encounter with a magician, Lettie questions the possibility of being Howl, a wizard known in myths for eating the hearts of beautiful women who fall in love with him, since he does not own one. But Sophie says there is nothing for Lettie to worry about since she is not beautiful enough for Howl to fall in love with her.

The meeting of the two ends up attracting the attention of the Witch of the Abandoned Lands who casts on Sophie a spell that turns her into an old woman. She decides to leave the house in search of a way to break the curse, and sets out for the Abandoned Lands, hoping to reconnect the Witch who threw the spell at her to undo it.

On her journey through the Abandoned Lands, Sophie releases a bewitched scarecrow , thinking it was just a branch stuck in a bush that could serve as a cane and calls it Turnip Head. The scarecrow then helps her taking her to the Animated Castle, so that she has a safe place to spend the night. Upon entering the castle, she meets the fire demon Calcifer who proposes to break his spell as long as she breaks the contract that binds him to the wizard Howl, who in his own complaints, makes him a slave, making him work day and night since is responsible for the movement of the castle.

In the morning she discovers that the young man who had helped her the other day is Howl, and when Sophie asks her who she is, Sophie says that she is the new self-employed cleaner, as the castle is the dirtiest place she has ever been. Little apprentice Markl even thought it was all a little suspicious, but Howl says nothing against it.

The situation worsens because with the disappearance of the prince from the neighboring kingdom , the kingdoms go to war and Howl is summoned to fight for his king and his former master, Madame Suliman. But Howl is not someone who takes orders easily. He has his own ideals and his own secrets
