Howl’s Moving Castle Plot

Howl’s Moving Castle is set in the parallel world of Europe in the late 19th – early 20th centuries[ source unspecified 157 days ] where magic goes hand in hand with advances in technology. The humble life of the hat-lady Sophie is completely changed when the walking castle of the mysterious wizard Howl, known for his “kidnapping” of girls’ hearts, appears in the vicinity of her town. Saved by this blue-eyed youth from the harassment of two military men, she falls in love with him.

However, a thrilling walk with him costs the young hatmaker her beauty and youth, taken away by the sorcery of the jealous Wasteland Witch. This event forces Sophie to leave her home and, in despair, go to the Wild Wasteland, which is notorious to remove the curse from herself. On the way, she comes across a garden scarecrow – the Scarecrow-Turnip, which gives Sophie a caneand helps to get into a strange structure – Howl Castle. “Granny” Sophie, without asking permission from the owner, appoints herself the cleaner of this strange giant mobile house on steel “chicken legs”.
